Wood Fired Wonders

Wood firing is one of the oldest methods of firing clay and the results are truly one of a kind. The pieces included in this collection have a food-safe glazed interior with no exterior glaze, left raw to the elements and unpredictability of nature. As such, all of the exterior colors, textures, and effects you see on the surfaces are the result of the flames traveling around the piece and the wood ash that collects and melts to create a natural glaze. The placement of the pieces in the kiln has a huge impact on the final results with beautiful variations created by the atmosphere in the kiln, the whirl of wood ash, and twisting flames.
